HAVEN Knox-Johnston, the boat insurance specialists are offering owners the chance to win a painting of their boat by leading artist Michael Richardson.
Michael is a member of the Wapping Group of Artists, renowned for their dockland scenes, and has exhibited at many major galleries including The Royal Academy and his work is in public and private collections worldwide.
Kathryn launches new work at Crick Boat Show

Kathryn Webley works from her narrowboat 'the pod' and her new designs of handmade decorative glass are based on the seasons as seen from the cut. Kathryn says: "Unsurprisingly, in light of the recent weather, I have patterns based on ice and snow, but on an optimistic note spring is here, so look out for floral patterns of dandelion clocks and cow parsley."
River Medway boaters fined for navigation offences

125 River Medway boaters were issued with warning notices across the 2012 season, with 17 river users prosecuted for keeping an unregistered boat on the Kent waterway.

Can London’s waterways cope with increasing demand for moorings?

THE London Assembly is today (Friday) launching a new investigation into moorings on the capital’s waterways.
This new investigation, led by Jenny Jones AM, on behalf of the Assembly’s Environment Committee, will focus on the impact of increasing boat numbers on canal infrastructure, existing boaters and canalside properties.
‘Best Lock’ Award presented to Shepperton keeper

THE award for Best Lock on the River Thames 2012 was presented to lock keeper Steve Newman yesterday (Thursday, May 16) at a sunny Shepperton Lock.
Shepperton has scooped the award for the second year running, after hundreds of people voted in the Environment Agency’s 2012 Thames Waterways Awards.
National Audit Office report slams HS2 but remains silent on damage already done

TODAY’S report from the UK’s National Audit Office on the British High Speed rail line, known as HS2, is highly critical of the early programme preparation work undertaken, but does not cover the damage already done to economic regeneration projects blighted by the HS2 route.
