ENGINEERS used specialist drones to inspect the Sutton Weaver Swing Bridge in Cheshire as part of plans for summer repairs.
The Canal & River Trust swung the bridge, which crosses the River Weaver, open twice during the inspection to allow engineers to see all parts of the bridge.
Engineers used specialist drone equipment to help complete the checks, removing the need for work platforms or an overnight road closure.
Any findings or recommendations from the inspection will be incorporated into the essential maintenance and repair works, which are provisionally being rescheduled for the school summer holidays next year.
Matthew Pickering, senior engineer at Canal & River Trust, said: “The inspection was part of ensuring that the bridge remains a safe and reliable transport link for residents, commuters and visitors.”
