Cicely Oliver reports…
THE Lowland Canals Association (LCA) is exploring corporate Inland Waterways Association membership after a decision to form an alliance with the IWA. This will benefit the LCA by giving it access to the IWA’s experience, campaigning and commercial expertise.
The LCA’s Neil Kitchener will be joining IWA’s lead in Scotland, Jonathan Mosse, on its navigation committee.
The LCA was formed to promote the interests and well-being of boaters and other users of the Lowland Canals.
Its activities include campaigning on practical matters such as user-operation of locks and bridges, weed cutting and dredging and it carries out an annual phone around to members to both check in and seek opinions on various matters.
You can find out more by visiting the lowlandcanalsassociation.org website.
The IWA, waterways.org.uk, is the national membership charity that campaigns locally and nationally to protect the canals and navigable rivers for everyone to enjoy.
