SOUTHAMPTON BOAT SHOW: New Inland area

There’s a new Inland area at this year’s Southampton International Boat Show – Phil Pickin reports…

Robert Parton, BM President and MD of Aqueduct Marina, has announced a new feature at this year’s Southampton International Boat Show, highlighting the importance of the inland waterways. Thanks to the proactive efforts of the Canal & River Trust (C&RT), they will be showcasing a brand new 60ft Glen Knight narrowboat and a 30ft C&RT workboat straight from Aqueduct Marina.

These vessels will be on display alongside a C&RT gazebo, where their membership sales team will be available on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays to engage with visitors.

In his email announcing the feature, Robert invited other BM members to get involved, asking, “If you or your team are planning to attend the show, your presence at our stand would be greatly appreciated.” He added, “Given the prime location of the canal boats and the gazebo, we expect peak interest in the mornings and afternoons as visitors arrive and depart. The boats will be viewable through front and rear doors, side hatches, and windows, offering a unique experience for attendees.”

Past experiences have shown a significant interest among coastal boaters in exploring inland waterways. The show runs from Friday, September 13th to Sunday, September 22nd. All British Marine members should have received an email with a link to claim a free entrance ticket. Robert finished his message by saying, “I encourage you to visit the show, immerse yourself in the event, and help us highlight the Inland waterways.”

So, if you are visiting the Southampton International Boat Show, keep a lookout.
