Upper Barnwell Lock UPDATE 10/05/2024 The Emergency Navigation Closure Notice issued earlier today for Upper Barnwell Lock has now been rescinded as the mechanical issue has now been resolved. EMERGENCY CLOSURE (Friday 10 May 2024 until further notice) Please be aware that Upper Barnwell Lock is closed until further notice due to mechanical issues. This emergency closure will remain in place until the issue has been resolved. DS of Lazy Otter ADVICE (Monday 13 May 2024 until further notice) Please be aware there is a large chunk of tree as you approach the Lazy Otter going downstream. Between the A45 and Beckets Park UPDATE 10/05/2024 This boat is no longer at this location and has since been removed. However, please be aware that there is a shoal at this location. ADVICE (Thursday 9 May 2024 until further notice) Please be aware that there is a boat stuck in the river between the A45 and Beckets Park, in front of the Ark. We have provided an additional life ring at the lock for use instead to avoid disturbing the Cookham Bridge, Cookham reach Updated 9/05/2024 Tree obstructing main downstream navigation arch at Cookham Bridge has now been removed. Bridge arches open for clear navigation. Nafford Lock – now reopened Update 8/05/2024 Following full underwater survey debris has been removed from the cill of the lock and repairs undertaken. The lock is now functioning correctly, however beware there is silt within the chamber making the gates heavy to move and shallows above the lock. Abingdon Lock Updated 9/05/2024 Abingdon Lock has now been repaired. Public power is available when a lock keeper is unavailable. Ely Pump Out Updated 4/05/2024 Please be aware that the pump out at Ely is operating at a significantly reduced capacity and we may need to temporarily close it if the situation deteriorates. We are doing everything we can to address this issue and we are currently waiting on an update from our contractor on the availability of replacement parts and when these will be fitted. Teddington barge lock tail end Update 02/05/2024: Submerged obstruction at Teddington barge lock tail end now removed. NAVIGATION ISSUE (Sunday 21 April 2024 until further notice) Submerged obstruction. Navigation hazard at tail end of barge lock and in to channel. Navigate with caution when entering or exiting the barge lock. ADVICE (Friday 3 May 2024 until further notice) As you are aware, the River Nene is currently in Strong Stream, however, locks will be reversed due to the forthcoming weather conditions. The locks are being reversed today, 03 May 2024, and will remain reversed until Strong Stream is lifted.
There will be minor disruption during the time of the repair to the upstream landing stage so please follow onsite instructions. The lock will remain open.
