Lock 22, Millbank Repairs have been completed and the navigation between Millbank Lock and Figure of Three Top Lock is now open for navigation. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (6am-4pm Wednesday 12 July 2023) Navigation will be closed between Millbank Lock and Figure of Three Top Lock to allow the water level to be reduced slightly, allowing access to gate sluices that urgently require repair before they fail completely. The work will take one day but if completed earlier the navigation will be reopened once water levels return to normal. This notice will be updated when there is new information to report. Starts At: Blisworth Tunnel North Portal BOOKING INFORMATION (7.30-9am Wednesday 12 July 2023) Blisworth tunnel will be closed to traffic from 07:30, possibly until 09:00 on Wednesday 12th July for the passage of a widebeam boat travelling from Blisworth to Stoke Bruerne. Boats may enter the tunnel if directed to do so by a Trust representative at the tunnel portal or after 08:00 if no representative is present. Stalybridge Lock 5 West We are pleased to advise the repair to Lock 5W on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal has been successful and navigation has resumed. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (5.15pm Monday 10 July 2023 until further notice) Please be advised navigation is currently closed at Lock 5W on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal due to vandalism which has resulted in a broken gate collar and the lock gate is now detached from the heel post. Our local team have attended site and a method of repair is being organised. A further update will be provided Wednesday 12 July. Lock 36 Otherton Lock Navigation open RESTRICTION (12noon Wednesday 12 July until 6pm Friday 12 July 2023) An emergency stoppage is required at Lock 36, Otherton Lock on the Staffordshire & Worcester Canal. The bottom end gate has broken and requires an emergency repair. Navigation will therefore be closed from Wednesday 12th July (after 12pm) Navigation will then be closed Thursday 13th July & Friday 14th July to complete the repair. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (1pm Tuesday 11 July 2023 until further notice) The Huddersfield Broad Canal is closed due to no water between Lock 1 and Lock 2., The team will be closely monitoring the section and we will update the notice when levels have returned. Brampton Sluice Pool Entrance ADVICE (Tuesday 11 July 2023 until rescinded) Please be aware of a willow tree which has fallen into the river at the entrance to the sluice pool at Brampton. If using W3W // plod.clenching.sushi. Near County Road Bridge 30 – River Soar Our contractors have cleared the tree and customers can access the towpath as normal. RESTRICTION (Tuesday 11 July 2023 until further notice) A large tree has come down on the towpath near County Road Bridge 30 on the River Soar. The tree is not blocking the towpath, but access is restricted and so we advise our customers to proceed with care. We have raised a job for our specialist contractors to clear the tree and we will update the website on the 13th July. Tree down between bridge 71 and 72 The Tree has been successfully removed navigation is now open. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (9am Monday 10 July 2023 until further notice) There is a tree blocking the navigation between bridge 71 and 72, Contractors have been instructed to attend, we will update this notice as soon as the tree has been removed. Starts At: Lock 1, Top Lock, Leigh Branch We are pleased to advise our teams have managed to raise the water levels between Lock 1, Top Lock, and Lock 2, Bottom Lock on the Leigh Branch of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal and navigation has now resumed. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (9.45am Monday 10 July 2023 until further notice) Please be advised, navigation is currently closed following vandalism to Lock 1, Top Lock in where the paddles have been left open, the pound between Lock 1, Top Lock, and Lock 2, Bottom Lock in the Wigan area on the Leigh Branch, Leeds & Liverpool Canal is severely low water. The local team are aware and onsite feeding water down to the affected area. We anticipate this will take a day to regain a navigable level. An update will be provided tomorrow, Tuesday 11 June. Newnham Stairs – Bedford ADVICE (Monday 10 July 2023 until rescinded) Please be advised of a large submerged tree trunk which has been reported in the river in front the Newnham Stairs at Bedford. Closed for repairs Repairs to the downstream paddle have been completed. Milby Lock is operational. NAVIGATION CLOSURE (11am Monday 10 July 2023 until further notice) Milby Lock is closed due to one of the downstream paddles failing. Our team will be attending to assess the repairs that will need to be carried out. We will update the notice on Wednesday morning with the outcome of our findings. Elsan, Atherstone Lock 1 Footbridge The Elsan is now back open. ADVICE (12noon Monday 10 July 2023 until further notice) The Elsan is blocked and therefore out of order. Please bear with us whilst our contractors attend. Reopened – Selby Toll Road Bridge We have been advised by North Yorkshire Council that Selby Toll Bridge is now operational and can be swung for river traffic. RESTRICTION (3pm Friday 23 June 2023 until further notice) North Yorkshire council have informed us that a fault has developed with Selby Toll bridge. The bridge is unable to swing at this time, any craft requiring passage please contact the bridge prior to commencing your passage for updated information. Lock 8, Holme Lock Our maintenance team has completed the work and boaters can now proceed as normal. RESTRICTION (8am-4pm Tuesday 11 July 2023) There will be a temporary restriction at Holme Lock tomorrow between 8am and 4pm. Our maintenance team is carrying out essential mechanical repairs, which means boaters may experience delays of up to an hour.
